Keep The Momentum Going!

2022 marks a year of change for the Basketball Museum of Illinois. We have accomplished more than ever during the past ten months, and our momentum continues.

We Have a Home!
We began 2022 with conversations and evaluations of The Village of Bedford Park and 3 other potential locations. Throughout this process, it became evident that Bedford Park is in line with the vision and mission of the museum. The Village’s willingness to partner with us in the phased development of our project was a key factor in our decision to move forward.

On April 30, we entered an agreement with The Village of Bedford Park, Illinois, and their multi-million dollar Wintrust Sports Complex. The state-of-the-art facility features 8 basketball courts, 16 volleyball courts, Bar and Lounge with Full Kitchen Service, meeting rooms, and more!

New Website and Virtual Museum Experience

Our all-new website brings our organization a modern design that educates and entertains visitors featuring an immersive 3D virtual museum experience. This is phase one of a multi-phase project, and new exhibits are currently in development. Visit the website to see the new look and learn about virtual exhibit sponsorship opportunities.

First Digital Museum Exhibit Installation

The TouchWall exhibit is an interactive experience where museum visitors navigate through the deep history of basketball in Illinois on a large reactive digital display with the touch of a finger. An additional feature of this exhibit allows visitors to interact with The Chuck Rolinski TouchWall Experience on their mobile device by scanning a QR code on the display. This exhibit will be installed at the Wintrust Sports Complex along with a dedication to Chuck and recognition of those who made this possible.

  • 50th-Anniversary Celebration of Title IX
On September 28, we had a wonderful 50th-anniversary celebration of Title IX with coaching icons educating and interacting with high school and college teams in Illinois at the Wintrust Sports Complex. You could travel all over the United States and not find more fitting speakers.

  •
  • Thanks to a $10,000 gift for museum exhibits at the Wintrust Sports Complex. We unveiled our first exhibit paying tribute to notable figures in Illinois basketball and their contributions to civil rights and equality in sports. This installation spans three walls in the upper level of the building and was one of the highlights of the evening.

      Leadership Academy

On November 9th, we hosted our first Leadership Academy at the Wintrust Sports Complex, benefitting 100 students from the Noble Academy of Chicago. Keynote speaker Arthur Lee started the day with a powerful message that inspired everyone in attendance. The full day of impactful programs included sessions conducted by Mike Eger, Marty Gaughan, and Ed Molitor that focused on goal setting, leadership, and developing skills that transfer from the basketball court to the board room. The day was a huge success, and we thank all of those who made it possible.
